POEMS
THE GREATEST GIFT
by
Jeff Oestreich
Men's Walk #22

We've heard it since we were children,
"Jesus loves you", is what we're told.
For most it doesn't seem to sink in
until we're lonely and cold.

"God's Grace is freely given", you say,
"Just let His Love come in".
But still we try it on our own
and fall in the pain of sin.

Acceptance is the hard part,
"How can something so good be free"?
If I can't put a "value" on it
What good will it be to me?

Then all at once it happens,
It may be a crisis in your life
Or just a kind word from a stranger
That allows Jesus to enter your life!

You may try to understand it,
To think how can this be,
Your life has a new direction
And your sins begin to flee.

God's Grace is there for all of us,
It calms our cares and strife.
Just open your heart and let Him in,
Let Christ direct your life!

EMMAUS ROAD
by Ron Weihrauch,
Men's Walk #22

I fled the cross down Emmaus Road,
to get away from danger.
And as I walked with heavy heart,
I came upon a stranger.

He asked me why I looked so sad,
my heart so full of fear.
He seemed to know just how I felt,
the moment he came near.

He'd spoke to us three days ago,
the last we'd supped with him.
Of his body like the broken bread,
given for our sin.

And as he passed the cup of wine,
he told of what it meant.
His own blood shed for us,
as a new covenant.

And as we walked he talked with me,
and I began to know.
The meaning of the prophets words,
written so long ago.

That God's own Son must come and die,
but he would rise agian.
And as I learned of God's great love,
my heart did burn within.

The hour was late we stopped to rest,
and as he broke the bread,
I knew this was my own sweet Lord,
He had risen from the dead.

My eyes were opened as he blessed our food,
and then he went away.
And though His body's not with us,
His love will always stay.

And now I run down Emmaus Road,
I laugh and dance and sing,
I shout the news of God's great gift,
Jesus Christ my Savior King.

It Was Him
by
Susan Ford
Women's Walk #29

I looked out from the mountain top
I climbed up in a tree.
I walked into an open church,
But where could my father be?

Then I walked to the edge of the water,
And saw the reflection from within,
When all the time behind me, I was followed-
IT WAS HIM!

Precious Savior

Women's Walk #29

Precious Saviour, please hear my prayer,
Precious Saviour, I know you're there.

Precious Saviour, I need to know,
Will you show me which way to go?

Precious Savior, Show me the way.
I know with Your Love, it will be O.K.

FRIENDS
by Jeff Oestreich
Men's Walk #22

We all have had different kinds of friends,
They are important in our life,
We call them "pal" and "buddy"
or maybe "husband" or "wife".

But brothers and sisters in Christ
are special friends indeed.
They are the ones you turn to
When you have a special need.

The bond you share with them
is one beyond compare.
You know you can count on them,
And they will always be there.

Thank you for being that kind of friend,
A force of Light and Love.
You will always be in my heart,
A God send from above.

Fourth Days
by Jeff Oestreich

I came down off the mountain top,
My heart was over flowing!
I saw the face of Jesus Christ
in all the candles glowing!

The body of Christ was shared with me,
In a way I had not known.
His Grace was very plain to see,
And in me it has grown.

My fourth days often get me down,
When I loose sight of where I’ve been.
But then I remember that thorny crown,
Jesus died to save my sins!

Nothing this world could ever do,
Can take that joy away.
Christ loved us all so very much,
His light will guide the way.

And when I focus on the light,
And let it shine from within.
I see the world in a different way,
Things don’t look so grim.

May you also find the path,
To help when things go wrong.
The Grace and Peace of Jesus Christ
Be with you all day long!
