November Newsletter
Dear Emmaus Community-
Here it is November coming to greet us with a brilliance of colors. It is the month set aside to give thanks. To think about and give thanks to the One Who does not give us what we deserve but out of His abundance of love for us- gives to us graciously.
With the covid virus still shutting things down and making it difficult for many, with an election unsettled like never before in the history of our nation- some may wonder, “What is there to be thankful for?”
I read a question that asked, “If tomorrow you would only have what you gave thanks for today, what would you have?” It made me think.
This morning I woke up. I was able to get my own self out of bed. I could dress my own body; feed my own face because God had blessed me with food in the fridge. When I had to leave my house I had a car that worked and it had gas in it. All those things I so readily take for granted.
More than any of these things though- when I woke up I had the Hope of Jesus Christ in my heart. His presence was in me and on me. I had a Book of Promises I could open and read to encourage me. My heavenly Father reminded me – this is not my home. I am here for a purpose –on purpose. He wants me to redeem the time I have.
If we want to truly be thankful we need to change our primetime. Turn off your TV, your facebook or whatever would be your media of choice. Take that time and spend it in the presence of Jesus. Read the written word to get to know the Living Word better.
Feed your faith and not your fear. I read this week a wonderful thought.
“Hell is not in charge of anything. According to Romans8:28- All things work together for the good of those who love God. Even if the enemy sends it- God will use it!
Praise God for Who He Is instead of complaining or being downhearted for what you are not or what you lack. Have you been feeling distant from His presence? Praise Him. He inhabits the praises of His people. When He inhabits He becomes an inhabitant. Webster’s 1944 Dictionary defines inhabitant as one who shows favor and privileges not claimable as rights! Wow!
Give thanks to the Lord for He Is Good!

24 HOUR PRAYER VIGIL HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR OCTOBER 9th and 10th
October Newsletter
Dear Emmaus Community ~
Here it is October already. The weather is starting to get cooler and the trees are letting go of their leaves. The apples are ready and the cider is amazing. A consolation for summer’s passing.
We are looking forward to the 24 hour prayer vigil that will be held in the DOCK starting October 9th at 6pm and ending at 6pm October 10th. You can sign up on line at www.findlayemmaus.org.
We are doing this to be obedient to God’s Word that says: If My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Prayer is a powerful thing! It is one of the greatest weapons of our warfare against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
There is power in community prayer! I remember when I was recovering from surgery and confined pretty much to my living room during waking hours. One morning I was watching out the window, looking at the bird feeders and all the different birds on them. There were Titmouse, yellow finch, cardinals, woodpeckers, house finch and many more. All at once a bully of a blue jay dive bombed at the feeders and drove all the rest of the birds away. He ate- then flew away and all the other birds came back. The Blue Jay did this three or four times and all at once all those different kinds of birds flew in unison at that Blue Jay and chased him all the way back to the creek.
In that moment the Holy Spirit had a conversation with my heart saying: Every time you join brothers and sisters in prayer- this is what you do to Satan! You run him off and reclaim what I have given you!
Please come and join in this prayer vigil, for your family, for health, for peace, for clarity. Most of all to spend time in the Father’s presence!
The prayer vigil will be secure and manned for the full 24 hours.
If we don’t spend much time with Jesus- we won’t be much like Him!

September Newsletter
Dear Emmaus Community-
Here we are with August passing and moving into September. School is back in session either by classroom or chrome book. We may feel a grieving for the loss of summer because we were not as connected and mobile as we would have normally been. A lot of churches are still just online. County fairs have been canceled. Sports are limited and Emmaus walks were canceled until 2021. For someone who doesn’t even like to wear lipstick on her mouth- a mask over it is getting old.
Our nation is so divided and there is so much unrest. It seems at every turn there is another crisis. Some would have us believe it is hopeless.
I am reminded of a story of three frogs that fell in a well. They were croaking and trying their hardest to jump out.
Two other frogs came to the edge of the well to see what the commotion was when they saw the three frogs. They hollered down to the three frogs that they should save their energy, give up and die- because there was no way they could jump out.
Two of the frogs jumped a few times then just gave up. The third frog though kept jumping with excitement. The more the frogs yelled at him to stop the higher he jumped until finally he jumped so high- he jumped right out of the well.
What was the difference between the two frogs that gave up and the one who jumped out? The one who jumped out was deaf! He thought the frogs that were yelling down were cheering him on telling him he could make it!
What message are you hearing with your ears and heart? Our God has not changed! He never changes! (Hebrews 13:8) He is still on the throne and still in control. My prayer for each one of you is Romans 15:13-May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.
We will be having an online gathering in September because they are not allowing gatherings in the park. Please join in. Details will be on the web site and face book.
On October 9th and 10th there will be a live 24 hr. prayer vigil in the Dock at St Marks Please visit the Emmaus Website to sign up http://www.findlayemmaus.org. Details will be on the web page and Facebook Please make a real effort to be a part of this vigil. If Jesus thought it important to take time for prayer- shouldn’t we? It is one of the greatest weapons of our warfare!
Please be encouraged and strengthened in the faith. If all hell breaks loose no matter where – it shall not prevail against the church of the living God. (Romans 16:18)
We are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us. Romans 8:37

June 2020 Newsletter
Dear Emmaus Community ~
Here we are in June with life blooming all around us. Flowers with such intricate beauty and for some –gardens sprouting to bring produce to sustain us. We have gone from shoveling snow to mowing grass. Funny how the ground always needs tended!
It seems like slowly but surely we are starting to “reboot” back into social life. The Emmaus Board has come up with a few ideas to get the Community
back together:
We will be having a virtual gathering for the month of June. Information and details will be on the Greater Findlay area website. It will also be posted on the Facebook page There will be music, a Fourth Day talk and possibly communion that you can join in at home.
We will have the July gathering at the waterfall pavilion at Riverside Park on the 21st. There will not be any food so please eat before you come. We will have music, a Fourth Day talk and communion.
In Matthew 14:28-33 we can read the account of Peter walking on the water. There are several lessons to be learned from that portion of scripture.
*Look for Jesus and keep looking to Jesus
*When Jesus commands you – obey Him
*Faith is simply taking the next step
*Faith unleashes the supernatural
*Fear will sink you
*Jesus saves you from many things
*A little faith is better than no faith
*You can choose to worry or worship
If you notice- the storm did not stop until Jesus and Peter both were back in the boat. I wondered why didn’t Jesus calm the storm and then bid Peter to come. Then that beautiful voice of the Spirit that brings conversation to my mind and thoughts said, “So He could teach him to walk through the storm.
Our Heavenly Father has been teaching many of us that same lesson these last few months. Our faith is evidenced by our actions. What do your actions say about your faith? Does it end in worship of Jesus like the disciples in the boat?
Please keep praying for our nation, our leaders and pastors. Pray for one another and we as board members desire your prayers for wisdom. As you are praying-listen for God’s voice. If you hear Him say, “Come.” Get out of the boat! Obey.

May 2020 Newsletter
Dear Emmaus Community-
Here we are a week into May and we have survived a lot of unchartered waters. We are living with many new social behaviors and phrases- such as “social distancing”, “shelter in place”, “face coverings” and “new normal”. Closings of schools, restaurants, churches and many other businesses and facilities have impacted our lives and families. So many changes!
All except one: our God never changes! (Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8) According to Psalms 139:16 (NIV) “Your (God’s) eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” When we were in the womb God knew these days would be in our lifetimes. He wired in us everything we would need to live them.
My greatest fear is that my eyes would be on what is happening so much- that I would forget to look to Jesus. Peter did that in Matthew 14:29-30 and we all know that when he took his eyes off Jesus and put them on the storm he began to sink.
God is our source! He uses many different conduits to provide our needs but He is the supplier.
In these days when so much is shutdown and closed- the THRONE IS OPEN! God is not social distancing. He calls us to come close. When we pray it is impossible for nothing to happen! That assurance comes from His word Luke 11:9 and Matthew 7:7. The prayers of a righteous man avail much! James 5:16
We as the Body of Christ –through prayer led by the Holy Spirit can make a difference for our whole nation!
We- the Emmaus board ask for your prayers for us in the days to come for wisdom in decision making. The May gathering has been cancelled but we are waiting and watching to determine where the process is at for future gatherings.
Please stay connected through the media of your choice. In this time when it can be tempting to binge watch movies and programs, make sure you feed your spirit. Psalms 119:165 states that –Great peace have those who love Your law…
Now more than ever may we cry out- Come Holy Spirit fill the hearts of your faithful…

Message from the Kathy Toms, Communicator for the Upper Room
Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening. I hope this message finds you well.
This last month has been a struggle for many people in many different ways. For me, it has been not physically attending church, Gathering, or Share Group. My Share Group is hoping to meet in my yard next week. Pray for warmer weather for me. For some it has been isolation for others it has been financially. Unfortunately, for some it has been both. Emmaus is struggling financially with no money coming in from Walks. Encourage members of you Community to join the 40 for Emmaus program. This is donating $40 a year for the next 5 years.
If you are interested in donating please click this link emmausgift.org/40-for-emmaus .
April 2020 Newsletter
Dear Emmaus Community-
This Sunday we will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The stone was rolled away-not to let Jesus out- but to let us in! Everything Jesus told the disciples that would take place- HAPPENED, just like He said. He conquered death, hell and the grave.
In Hebrews 12:2 we read that – “He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” We are His joy and prize! He was faithful even unto death!
During these unchartered times when we as a people and a nation are experiencing life in a way we never have before- remember-GOD IS FAITHFUL! He is still on the throne. It has not been vacated! This is all new to us but not to our Father. I’m reminded of the old hymn: Many things about tomorrow I don’t seem to understand, but I know Who holds tomorrow and I know Who holds my hand.
In these times stay in fellowship with one another. It may be through face book, zoom, texting, email or a phone call. Use this time to take opportunities that arise to be “salt and light”. Send a card, write a letter or take a treat or meal to a neighbor. Check on the elderly, the widows and single moms. Stay connected with your small group. If you don’t have one, our Good Shepherd is: Ken Miller- ktcsm111@yahoo.com . If you have a need let someone in the community know. Board contacts are on the website.
In the cancellation of the April gathering and the Women’s June walk- we are not doing away with the reunions of Women’s Walk #109 and Men’s Walk #82. We will have both of these reunions the next time we have a gathering. Pray for one another, our nation, our leaders and pastors.
On behalf of the Greater Area Findlay Emmaus board we pray you all have a most blessed Easter. May we live our lives, not as human beings having a spiritual experience– but as spiritual beings having a human experience. Praise God our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is ALIVE! He rolled the stone away so we could believe.
Blessings- Roxie Craig- Chairman

February 2020 Newsletter
Greetings to the Greater Findlay Area Emmaus Community-
It’s hard to believe that March is already upon us. In a few short weeks we will be “springing” forward an hour in time. Losing an hour is always hard for me to adjust to! We are told in Ephesians 5:16 Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. (Amp.version)
I think about Emmaus and Chrysalis and the time and talents it takes to make these walks and flights happen. I witness so many of you willingly giving so others can receive. That is how the Kingdom of God is grown.
Matthew 9:37-38 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the Harvest therefore, to send out workers into His harvest fields.”
These wonderful ministries of Emmaus and Chrysalis need more workers in the field. Whether it is to come help serve meals, attend candlelight, sponsor pilgrims (men and women), sponsor bugs for Chrysalis (ages 15-21), attend gatherings or serve on a live-in team, you are needed.
In the 13th chapter of Matthew Jesus shares the “parable of the sower”. The seed is the Word of God. The grounds are each different. God is calling each of us to be “Heart Farmers”. Whether it is to be a “roto tiller” of just loving someone, a “hoe” of speaking God’s truth-breaking hard ground up- packed down by lies, a “prayer-crow” watering the ground thru tears of prayer or pulling weeds or removing rocks by just walking the field- being a presence God can use.
Let’s redeem the time because our enemy Satan is not backing off! He is constantly in the fields. Let’s all pray to the Lord for each other, the harvest and the workers He is going to send! “Heart Farming” isn’t for wimps!
He Who called you is faithful, and He will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:25
